Bring back the public house
Client: The Cricketers Type: Creative Strategy Year: 2024
Affectionately dubbed Operation Cricketers among close friends, I joined forces with a group of creatives, networkers, and filmographers to rescue a traditional English pub from being overtaken by gastro pub business owners. Together, we transformed the space into a charming, kitschy community hub—an inviting "third place" where people could gather, enjoy games, share food, and connect meaningfully.
Our efforts included a complete rebrand of the small independent business, leveraging social media, designing eye-catching posters, and organizing weekly events to bring the community together and breathe new life into the pub.
Drawing inspiration from the timeless charm of a classic grandma's living room, we envisioned the Cricketers with a similar cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. To achieve this, we sourced decor from second-hand shops, including lace curtains, tablecloths, houseplants, and vintage lamps, transforming the space into a warm, inviting grotto. This design stands in stark contrast to the cold, impersonal interiors of chain pubs and restaurants that have increasingly dominated the area, offering a refreshing and unique alternative for the community.
