Coalesce Visual Report

My third-year final visual report was centred around the retirement market and the desires to move from cities to rural locations due to a lack of identity from local urban communities. This is a huge issue as our population ages like it never have before there needs to be more action taking place for people to live out and enjoy their prime years without restriction for those living in big cities. For my big idea, I wanted to 'offer a greener platform for city retirees with a focus on creating meaningful connections and ageing in place' which resulted in the creation of my brand Coalesce which is a Latin translation for 'growing together.'

With the rise in gentrification and urbanisation gradually eliminating green spaces within regions such as London, Coalesce aims to offer green community spaces for those who have retired and looking for exciting new social opportunities. It will use gardening as a focal point to the brand, with numerous sources of evidence showing horticulture playing a huge role in positive physical and mental health and improving one's self-esteem. The Coalesce space will be something more modern and youthful for the retirement community which at the moment is incredibly medicalised and out of touch to the baby boomer cohort.

I have found this project to be absolutely fascinating, I have had an obsession with brutalism since I was a kid visiting the Barbican with my mum and it was so exciting to bring all my visual inspiration to life in a way that's incredibly humbling and doing something for a generation who are constantly perceived as 'forgotten'.
